Domenico Canino is a contemporary Italian painter. Born in 1986 in Catanzaro, he spent his childhood in Albi in the Sila Piccola mountains.
An emerging and modern painter, his art is based on the aesthetics of nature. While having a surrealist and animist vision of life, he tends through his paintings to glorify the sacred character of existence. For Domenico Canino, human beings must remember that in original primitive thought, everything is alive, even rivers, mountains and the sea.
His abstract works are marked by his values, even when he paints figurative faces. A committed artist, he wants his art to be an electric shock, an awakening of consciousness, which would then lead human beings to change their way of thinking or acting.
Canino studies pictorial space in search of figures that tear the canvas and overcome the dichotomy between life and death, sleep and slumber and light and shadow.
